Many people believe that fruits and vegetables that are grown organically are far superior to regular produce. Organic produce is expensive in the stores, so you may want to grow your own, Keep reading to learn how to get started with organic gardening. Try to put an aspirin in the water to get rid of plant diseases. One and a half aspirin, dissolved in two gallons of water, can be a great addition to your plants. Spray your plants with the water if they have a disease. Spraying should be one time every three weeks. Use this simple tip to get your perennial garden ready in a flash. Simply slice into the ground with a spade, flip the top layer of soil, and then cover it with several inches of wood chips. Allow the newly turned soil to sit for two weeks, then plant your perennials. Indoor plants need an environment that is between 65 and 75 degrees. In order to encourage proper growth, they will need that warmth. If you don't want you house to be really warm during the cold season, you could use a heat lamp on organic plants instead. One of the most important things to consider when plotting your garden is to make note of your available space. As plants grow and spread out, you will not always know how much space will be required. The plants need space due to sheer size and also for air circulation. Think ahead and give each plant room for expansion, by properly spacing the seeds. If slugs are an issue in your garden, a beer trap can make them go away. Take a glass jar and bury it in your garden so that the top of it is level with the soil. Pour beer into the jar until it is an inch from the top. Slugs will be attracted by the beer and fall into the jar. Leave plenty of growing space when you plant your garden. Do not underestimate the space that plants need to develop their root systems. The plants will inevitably need to unfurl and spread, but they also need the circulation of air from open spaces. Make sure that you map out your garden layout beforehand and place your seeds with an adequate amount of space in between each. Do you want to know how to kill weeds in a natural way? Pile newspapers on top of each other to kill weeds. Weeds can't grow without sunlight. When you put newspaper over them, they suffocate from lack of sunlight. Newspaper decompose quickly and integrate into the compost. Try adding some mulch on top of it to make appear more attractive. Grow garlic. Plant single garlic cloves during the spring or fall seasons in soil that is moist and well drained. Plant them approximately 4 inches apart at a depth of 1 or 2 inches beneath the surface of the soil with the pointed end facing upward. You can cut the sprouts as they grow and use them to replace scallions and chives. You will know when to harvest the garlic, because the tops will gradually turn brown. You should dry them outside in a sunny spot for a couple of days to harden the skin. The garlic should be stored out of direct sunlight in a cool, dry place. Use untreated stone, brick or wood to build raised beds. Be sure that any wood you use isn't chemically treated, and will be able to resist rot naturally. Good choices are cedar, locust and cypress. Consider the chemicals that will leach out of the wood before choosing anything that has been treated. Remember the affect that such chemicals will have on your plants and soil. If you have built a bed with treated lumber already, use a barrier such as plastic to line the bed. As discussed earlier, there are many benefits to growing your garden with natural and organic methods. This opens up a world of possibilities for your flowers, vegetables and herbs. Use the tips and advice presented here to get the most of your organic garden. It can be a source of pleasure for years to come.
